Hair Transplant Treatments in 2025 —
Complete Options Guide

Surgical Hair Transplant Options

FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction)

Individual follicles extracted with a 0.7–1.0mm micro-punch and implanted via pre-made channels. The gold standard. Suitable for most patients. No linear scar.

DHI (Direct Hair Implantation)

Choi pen places grafts directly without pre-made channels. Superior angle control for hairlines. Preferred for women and smaller sessions. Graft out-of-body time reduced.

Sapphire FUE

FUE with sapphire blade channels instead of steel. Finer incisions, faster healing, denser packing possible. Particularly beneficial for patients with sensitive scalps or high-density requirements.

Algorithmic FUE™

Dr. Arslan's proprietary methodology — treats the patient's lifetime of hair loss as a mathematical problem, distributing grafts and designing hairlines for 20–30 year horizons rather than the immediate result alone.

Non-Surgical Treatments

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma)

Patient's own blood processed to concentrate platelets and growth factors, injected into scalp. Stimulates follicle activity, improves graft survival when combined with surgery, and can slow early hair loss. Not a replacement for transplant surgery in advanced cases.

Finasteride (Propecia)

Oral DHT-inhibitor. Prevents further androgenetic loss in 85% of users. Must be taken continuously.

Minoxidil

Topical (or oral low-dose) vasodilator. Extends anagen phase. Effective adjunct to surgical results.

Clascoterone (Breezula®)

Topical androgen receptor blocker. Early clinical evidence promising; best used alongside other treatments rather than as standalone.

The Combination Approach at Hairmedico

The optimal hair restoration plan at Hairmedico combines: (1) surgery to permanently restore lost areas with DHT-resistant transplanted follicles, (2) Finasteride to protect remaining native hair, (3) PRP on surgery day to maximise graft survival, and (4) periodic PRP sessions at months 3 and 6 to support growth. This combination protocol produces better 10-year outcomes than surgery alone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is AI used in hair transplant surgery?

Yes. AI is used for trichoscopy donor density mapping, graft count estimation from photographs, and digital hairline design simulation. At Hairmedico, AI-assisted trichoscopy is part of the Algorithmic FUE planning process. Robotic extraction is not used — Dr. Arslan's manual FUE achieves lower transection rates across all hair types.

Can AI predict hair transplant results?

AI simulation tools can show proposed hairline positions on photographs, but cannot predict actual graft survival (depends on surgeon quality), actual density (depends on hair calibre), or how the result interacts with future native hair loss. They are design communication aids, not result guarantees.

Will AI replace hair transplant surgeons?

Not in the foreseeable future. AI adds value in data analysis (density mapping, graft counting) but cannot replace the aesthetic judgment required for natural hairline design, the technical adaptation required for diverse hair types, or the long-term clinical planning that accounts for individual hair loss trajectories.
