All Articles →Algorithmic FUE™ is a proprietary hair transplant methodology created by Dr. Arslan Musbeh — a structured, mathematically planned approach to FUE extraction and implantation that maximises graft survival, protects donor zone integrity and plans for a patient's lifetime of potential procedures, not just the one in front of him.

The methodology was developed over 17+ years of exclusive clinical focus on hair restoration, drawing on Dr. Arslan's experience of 4,500+ personally performed cases and his academic work as a lecturer at Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 in France.
Most FUE is intuitive. The surgeon reads the donor zone and extracts. Algorithmic FUE™ replaces intuition with a structured protocol. Every extraction is planned. Every zone is protected. — Dr. Arslan Musbeh
Traditional FUE extraction is largely intuitive — the surgeon reads the donor zone visually and decides which follicles to extract based on experience. The problem with this approach is cumulative: over thousands of extractions across a long session, the pattern can become uneven, creating visible depletion zones and undermining the donor area for future procedures.
In clinics performing multiple procedures per day, this problem is amplified. A technician extracting grafts for the fourth patient of the day is not making nuanced zone-management decisions. The result: a high percentage of over-harvested donor areas that are visible — as a thinned, mottled appearance — even when the head is shaved.
Algorithmic FUE™ imposes a structured, pre-calculated sequence on every extraction. Depletion cannot occur accidentally because the protocol doesn't permit it.
Before any extraction begins, the entire donor zone is photographed and trichoscopically assessed. Hair density, follicle grouping (singles, doubles, triples), angle and direction are recorded per zone. This creates a precise inventory of available grafts — not an estimate.

Extractions follow a structured sequence that rotates across zones rather than depleting one area before moving to the next. This prevents the visible "moth-eaten" pattern seen in donor areas after poorly planned FUE procedures.
Extracted follicles are immediately classified, stored in temperature-controlled HypoThermosol solution, and counted. The implantation sequence is planned to minimise the time each graft spends outside the body — the primary determinant of graft survival rate. Hairmedico consistently achieves 95–98% graft survival.
Every Algorithmic FUE™ case includes a 10–20 year projection of expected hair loss progression. The extraction plan reserves capacity in the donor zone for future sessions. A patient treated at 35 may need a secondary procedure at 45 — the algorithm plans for both simultaneously.
Across 4,500+ personally performed cases, Algorithmic FUE™ has produced measurable improvements in three areas:
These outcomes are why 250+ physicians from 30+ countries have undertaken formal training in the methodology.
The methodology's greatest value is in challenging cases: patients with Norwood V–VII requiring maximum coverage from a limited donor zone; patients undergoing revision after poorly planned previous procedures; and patients with atypical donor characteristics such as low density, fine calibre hair or tight curl.
In Norwood VI–VII cases, the total extractable graft count — typically 6,000–8,000 across a lifetime — must be distributed across multiple procedures without creating visible depletion. The algorithm calculates safe extraction zones for each session while reserving appropriate capacity for future needs.
In revision cases — where a previous surgeon has over-harvested — Algorithmic FUE™ allows working with a compromised donor zone, redistributing from less depleted areas while avoiding areas of permanent damage.
Physicians seeking formal training can apply for the Hairmedico Physician Masterclass — a two-day intensive programme in Istanbul covering:
Prerequisite: minimum 1 year of FUE clinical practice. Maximum 4 physicians per cohort.

Not every case requires the full algorithmic planning protocol. Straightforward Norwood II–III cases with ample donor zone can be managed with standard FUE. The decision is made after reviewing your photographs, trichoscopic assessment and long-term projection.

Algorithmic FUE™ is Dr. Arslan Musbeh's proprietary systematic approach to hair transplant planning. It structures extraction sequencing, density mapping, donor zone management and long-term planning into a repeatable framework rather than intuitive case-by-case decisions.
Standard FUE is a technique (how grafts are extracted). Algorithmic FUE is a planning methodology (how the entire case is designed, sequenced and managed). It produces higher consistency across complex cases, better donor zone management, and more predictable long-term outcomes.
Algorithmic FUE™ was created by Dr. Arslan Musbeh, founder of Hairmedico Istanbul, FUE Europe Full Member, and lecturer at Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1. It was developed over 17+ years and 4,500+ personal cases.

After researching countless clinics, I specifically didn't want a "hair mill." Dr. Arslan is hands-on throughout the entire process. I came from Australia and the experience was seamless.
Dr. Arslan was present throughout the surgery and personally performed the majority of key procedures. His professionalism and dedication made all the difference.
I already see good hair growth after only 17 weeks. The professionalism of the team and facilities was excellent.
Dr. Arslan was incredibly professional — he explained all procedures clearly. The clinic was spotless and the staff were super friendly.
From first contact, communication was prompt, transparent and efficient. My expectations were surpassed by the services and attention I received.
After 5 years of research I chose Hairmedico. Even on a basic package, Dr. Arslan performed the critical incision phase himself.
